- 2019 Grand i10 to be based on a new platform
- To continue with existing petrol and diesel engine options
- Eight new products in India over next two years
- Hyundai Santro to comeback this festive season
Korean car manufacturer Hyundai had recently announced its plans to launch eight new products in India, including an electric SUV, over the next two years. Among these, the new Hyundai Santro has been the most awaited one and is expected to make a comeback this festive season. What's more, now the company has also revealed its plans to launch the all-new Grand i10 in India in 2019.
The fresh developments are a result of Hyundai’s plans to reduce its product lifecycle to five - six years with facelifts set for every second year. The all-new Grand i10 is one of the eight new products which are due for launch in the country by 2020. The aggressive product strategy is expected to further strengthen the company’s foothold in India. Although the company has chosen to remain tightlipped about its development plans, we believe that it will be based on an all-new platform, which is expected to be lighter, flexible, safer and wider than its predecessor.
The 2019 Grand i10 will get fresh design upgrades, however, it will not lose its young and tall-body styling element. As for its interior, it is speculated that the new model will be offered with a new dual-tone upholstery for freshness and a touchscreen infotainment system. The vehicle will be offered with standard safety features such as dual front airbags and ABS.
Mechanically, we expect that the all-new Hyundai Grand i10 will be powered by the existing petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will continue with the 1.2-litre Kappa engine that develops 81bhp of power and 114Nm, while the diesel version will get the current 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine that generates 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. Both the variants get the five-speed manual gearbox as standard while the petrol gets the four-speed automatic option.
More details about the all-new Hyundai Grand i10 will be known in the days to come.
