When you talk about performance cars, Audi’s RS series fights right at the top with the Mercedes AMG’s and the BMW M cars. Based on the A7 Sportback, the Audi RS7 is already a scorcher. The latest iteration of the RS7 to touch ground here is the RS7 Performance – an even more powerful version if the RS7.
Let us start with the performance figures. The standard RS7 develops 560bhp of power from the 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The RS7 Performance makes 605bhp – 10 per cent more power straight away.
The RS7 Performance develops a whopping 700Nm of torque – the same as before. And then you have an additional 50Nm of torque on tap with the overboost function which is available for a limited time when you are going flat out.
The Audi RS7 Performance claims a 0-100kmph dash in 3.7 seconds that goes straight into supercar category which includes the likes of Lamborghini’s and Ferrari’s in there. The acceleration is thanks to the four-wheel Quattro system that transmits power through the eight-speed gearbox.
The RS7 Performance has got some visual tweaks too. The headlamps and the tail lamps have been smoked for a mean tuner-car look. You can also choose the pristine Ascari Blue colour. It also gets the Matte Titanium styling package that adds some brushed aluminium inlays and a few additional design tweaks to improve the aerodynamics.
The Alcantara leather interior has always felt great with the sporty bucket seats now getting RS badge and new Valcona leather. It also gets a host of luxury features like power seats, electric sunroof and four-zone climate control amongst many others.
The Audi RS7 Performance is a fine blend of practicality and performance. It can seat five comfortably, stow all their luggage and will take you to your destination faster than most performance cars.
