Tata Motors has finally launched the Tiago in India in five variants - in XB, XE, XM, XT and XZ with optional variants being the XE, XM and XT. The petrol variant starts at Rs 3.20 Lakh while the diesel starts at Rs 3.94 lakh (both prices ex-showroom Delhi).
Under the hood, Tiago’s petrol variant comes with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron engine that generates 84bhp of power and 114Nm of torque, and the diesel gets a 1.05-litre three-cylinder engine that generates 67bhp of power and 139Nm of torque. Both coupled with the five-speed manual gearbox. The vehicle gets multi drive modes – City and Eco which is supported by an advanced Engine Management System (EMS) to offer better fuel efficiency. The petrol trim claims to return 23.8 kmpl under ARAI testing cycle, while the diesel claims 27.28 kmpl.
As for the interiors, the Tiago offers a premium feel owing to knitted fabrics, colour harmony, geometric texture accented with chrome handles, layered design theme with a dual tone interior, customisable air vents, premium graphics on the fabric and body hugging seat bolsters. Along with the height adjustable headrest and seat the top-end variant additionally offers colour-accentuated air conditioning vents which is in line with the body colour. The car also gets 22 unique utility spaces and biggest boot space in its segment measuring 242 litres. The dashboard is adorned with the next generation ConnectNext Infotainment system by HARMAN in the top two variants.
Tata Tiago is offered in interesting shades of Striker Blue, Berry Red, Sunburst Orange, Espresso Brown, Pearlescent White and Platinum Silver. The new IMPACT design philosophy based on inputs have come-in from the Pune, UK and Italy design studios. It emphasizes on immediate IMPACT at the first sight and intends to leave a lasting IMPACT overtime. The new Tata Tiago also gets segment first applications like Turn-by-Turn Navi app and the Juke-Car app. The Juke-Car app utilizes mobile hotspot to create a virtual network and host a service for sharing list of available songs in the device. This allows all connected devices can view the song list on the hotspot device. The Turn-by-Turn app navigation connects to smartphone via Bluetooth. The app is also capable of providing guidance on Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and Next Maneuver, which helps in simplifying navigation while driving. Apart from all these features, Tata is also offering safety package on the XE, XM and XT variants for Rs 18,000.
