We have finally caught the all-new Volvo V60 undergoing testing. The prototype, in fact, was spotted at a petrol station in the northern part of the company’s home country Sweden.
You are looking at what’s to become Volvo’s new mid-size estate for 2020 and hence one of the first cars following the brand’s new rule to launch “electrified” cars only. In this case there will be petrol engine paired to an electric motor to be offered as a hybrid.
Like the new XC60 and the future S60, the V60 will be based on the SPA platform (Scalable Product Architecture) which demands for transversally mounted engines but allows multiple body variants stretching from the S60 to the XC90. The latter also delivers the hybrid module used in the 60-range of cars from Volvo.
