Toyota’s Etios has been around for close to four years now and work on the next generation model is underway. According to a report in a website, Toyota will introduce the all-new Etios at the Auto Expo 2016. The new model might be a complete breakthrough in terms of design over its predecessors.
The Etios had a fair share of shortcomings it didn’t have the best of the interiors, and neither the best exteriors. The Etios as a result failed to entice Indians and it could be attributed to the vehicle not being a complete package one expects at that price. Toyota will change that come 2016 and have set their sights on giving styling a priority among others.
“Design is one issue and you will see that the new version will have a much better design,” said Hisayuki Inoue, CEO Asia-Pacific operations, Toyota.
According to the Japanese car maker, the car’s strengths of fuel efficiency, space and durability is here to stay and they want to portray these aspects in a better way with the new Etios. A lot of work is going around collecting customer feedback and preference across India for the next-gen Etios. The car may use the same current range of petrol and diesel engines, albeit slightly reworked for better refinement (especially the petrols).
We hope the new Etios is a looker and we may not be surprised if Toyota plans to get the car under four-metres to avail of the excise concessions and put it in a better position to compete with the Honda Amaze, Maruti Dzire and the rest of the class.
