After months of endless speculations and numerous spy shots, the new Skoda Superb has finally rolled into the spotlight with its world debut in Prague, Czech Republic. The comprehensively upgraded luxury sedan is set to go on sale in select markets starting June this year.
With its striking new appearance, the new Superb demonstrates the bold design language of the Vision C concept in production form. The wheelbase has been increased by 80mm and at the same time the front overhang is 61mm shorter than before. According to Skoda this new architecture provides the car with dynamic elegance.
Inside, the overall design may not be as striking as the exterior but the cabin is now roomier compared to the previous model. The driver and front seat passenger get 39mm more elbow room and more headroom. With 157mm legroom, the rear space reportedly is about twice as much as in the nearest competitor model. The boot space is further up by 30-litres than the second-generation Superb and is now rated at 625-litres.
Under the hood, the new Superb will be available with a total of eight different engine options: five TSI petrol and three TDI diesel units. Except for the base petrol, the entire powertrain line up can be had with a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The Superb undoubtedly has proved to be a big success for Skoda across the globe with sales of more than 700,000 units till date. Skoda will now be looking to continue the success story of the brand’s flagship offering with the all-new generation Superb.
