It hasn’t been long since Porsche updated the Cayenne and yet, the brand is already working on an all-new model. Going by the recent reports, the next-gen Cayenne will be introduced later next year and while the exact details are unknown for now, one can expect some pretty impressive upgrades for this high-performance SUV.
The next-gen Cayenne is bound to be built using Volkswagen’s MLB SUV platform. The platform already underpins the Audi Q7 which means Porsche’s version will also make use of lots of aluminium, carbon fibre and ultrahigh-strength steel. This will not only make the future Cayenne lighter but also provide more rigidity compared to the current model.
Like the current model, the next-gen Cayenne will be offered with a host of engine options. Among all-new engines there will be 4-litre V8 and 3.6-litre V8 as well as a turbocharged 2.9-litre V6. Additionally, there will also be a plug-in hybrid system with a 3-litre engine as the part of the powertrain.
Despite its age, the Porsche Cayenne has been doing well in the premium full-size SUV segment. So much so that it is the bestselling Porsche model here in India. This next-gen model, then, is expected to offer more of the same when it comes to offering both driving thrills and everyday practicality.
