The all new ninth generation Mercedes Benz E-Class, the W212, will be available at your nearest Mercedes dealer by the end of this month.  Following the twin-eyes theme which we first saw on the W210 in 1999, this new car carries off the theme with a modern touch with its striking squared clear-lens headlamps. Styling is quite crisp and balanced giving the car a mini S class look. Also making a comeback, is the 80’s Mercedes aggression thanks to the more geometric styling with clean sharp lines – starting at the aggressive sinewy front end to the muscular haunches and ending at a fairly well styled - if somewhat conservative rear end.
We hear that new E-Class will be initially available in India with a 3.5-litre, 24valve V6 direct injection petrol, producing all of a whopping 292bhp. However, the engine might be slightly detuned, owing to the poor fuel quality available in our country. With so much power on hand, this Mercedes comes with the much-acclaimed 7-GTronic automatic transmission with paddle shifters if you’re in the mood to play race-driver. The diesel variant is expected to make its debut towards the last quarter of the year and we hear that the engine will be the 320CDi.
The W212 is a technological tour-de-force with an impressive list of active and passive safety features, not to mention creature comforts that will truly pamper the inner-CEO in you. Expect the new E to cost upwards of 45lakhs, so start saving moolah if you must! Do keep looking for more updates shortly in our Upcoming Cars section on CarWale.com.
