The bestselling roadster of all time has rejuvenated itself for 2015 and has just gone on sale in the UK. The model in question is the all-new, fourth generation Mazda MX-5 which has been priced at £18,495 (Rs 17.84 lakh) for the entry-level model. The 9-version range goes on till £23,295 (Rs 22.46 lakh) for the top-spec model.
Standard features across the range include alloy wheels, LED headlights, a leather steering wheel, plus a lightweight fabric hood. SE-L models add LED daytime running lights, climate control air-conditioning and cruise control, plus an infotainment system with 7-inch display and multimedia commander.
The fourth-gen model is the lightest MX-5 since the first generation. It’s shorter, lower and wider than the outgoing car, with the smallest overhangs and lowest centre of gravity yet. For Europe, Mazda has announced that it will be offering this new model with two efficient petrol engine options delivering 131bhp and 160bhp in low and high state of tunes respectively.
Introduced in 1989, the MX-5 instantly revived the market for affordable lightweight sports cars. Some 26 years later, the Japanese sports car is still going strong. Now in its fourth generation, the MX-5 is headed for select European markets starting with the UK.
