Now in its fourth generation, the new Jeep Cherokee has evolved into a completely new model which retains Jeep’s legendary off-road credentials. The mid-size SUV is all set to bow in at the upcoming 2014 Geneva Motor Show. It will be an important unveiling for Jeep as the car is slated to go on the show floor will feature an all-new 9-speed automatic gearbox – a first in the mid-size SUV segment.
The Cherokee will be introduced in the UK in the second quarter of 2014 where it will be available in both two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive configurations. Under the hood, the SUV will get a 2-litre turbo diesel engine delivering 170bhp. This engine will be matched with a revolutionary nine-speed automatic gearbox. A 140 horsepower version of the 2-litre engine will also be available in combination with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
As for the equipment, the new Cherokee comes fairly loaded with features including automatic headlamps, dual zone climate control, 18-inch unique aluminum wheels, heated leather seats, infotainment system with 8.4-inch touchscreen screen. True to its off-road pedigree, the new Jeep Cherokee features an impressive array of off-road hardware which includes a sophisticated 4WD system with low range function, locking rear axle, ‘Selec-Terrain’ traction control system, hill ascent and descent control and lots more.
