Hyundai updated the Santa Fe back in 2013. Since then, the popular full-size soft-roader has been in pretty much the same shape. Now though Hyundai is developing an all-new Santa Fe.
One of the prototypes was recently caught testing on a frozen lake in northern Sweden. The new Santa Fe is expected to feature more seating capacity to compete with rivals from Toyota and Honda. According to Automotive News, this will likely involve a larger variant built to accommodate eight passengers. The current model features a third-row to accommodate seven occupants.
Hyundai will introduce two new small SUVs between 2018 and 2020 while its current medium and large offerings will be revised to further diversify the line-up. The new Santa Fe and long-wheelbase Grand Santa Fe will grow significantly and be further differentiated, to the point where the long-wheelbase model will get a new name.
