It’s taken Ford nearly a decade to develop the third-generation model of the Endeavour and going by the imposing presence and the improved feature list, the all-new SUV seems to be worth the wait. Already on sale in Thailand, the new Endeavour has been recently spotted in India.
Spotted near Bijapur, Karnataka, this new model is seen wearing 2.2-litre and 4WD badges, indicating that the 2.2-litre, four cylinder diesel motor is headed for the India-spec Endeavour. The motor develops 160bhp of power and 385Nm of torque and will send all of it via Ford’s all-wheel drive system.
Ford India will also offer the new Endeavour with a more powerful 3.2-litre diesel engine producing a meaty 197bhp and 470Nm. Both these engines will be paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, however, the smaller-engined Endeavour could be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as well.
The Endeavour, as we know, is sold as ‘Everest’ in select markets and is based on Ford’s popular global off-roader – the Ranger. With prices expected to range between Rs 21 lakh - Rs 28 lakh for this new model, Ford India will be looking to take on the mighty Toyota Fortuner and eventually the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
