The large air inlets reinforce the muscular effect. The car stands on 19-inch rims and it also gets the ActiveHybrid lettering on the rear, on the C pillars, interiors and on the engine cover.
Exclusivity begins with the interiors which comes in Nappa leather upholstery available in black, oyster, ivory, white/black, saddle brown, light/black and veneto beige colour combinations. Like in most BMWs the cockpit comes angled towards the driver, while ambient lighting transforms the mood of the interior according to the driver’s choice. Driving this new car is an electric motor and a petrol engine which work in unison supported by a lithium-ion high-performance battery. The hood holds beneath it the BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line petrol engine which is pulled by 320 horses outputting 450Nm torque. Despite its two tonne plus weight, the engine is powerful enough to propel the car from standstill to 100kmph in just 5.7 seconds. Top speed has been restricted to 250kmph. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF eight-speed Steptronic gearbox and it can travel three to four kilometres on pure electric power.
The car boasts of the latest and most innovative BMW ActiveHybrid technology. Through intelligent energy management it captures surplus energy, stores it and then converts it into motion whenever required. The Driving Experience Switch that it comes with it offers the driver a choice between ECO, PRO, Comfort, Sport and Sport plus modes
