It is raining shooting brakes. After the Aston Martin Zagato and the Mercedes AMG GT4 and the Kia concept, we now have another pretty shooting brake and this one is electric. Alcraft, an electric car start-up, much like the British version of Tesla, aims to go into production once it raises enough funding.
With a stellar team of automotive industry bigwigs, clearing the starting line should not be difficult for Alcraft, especially when they have a product as pretty as the GT. And it is not only pretty but practical and powerful as well. Alcraft says it has two additional seats in the back and a 500-litre boot. Although fundamentally it is an electric car, there is a design provision for adding a range extender as well.
In terms of power, the electric motors are expected to whip out over 1000Nm of torque and 600bhp of power (Audi R8, are you listening?). With four-wheel drive, torque vectoring and the electronic wizardry at your service, it will do a 0-100kmph dash in just 3.5 seconds. As of now, Alcraft has built a 33 per cent foam model with the first prototype to be built soon. Alcraft is going the crowdfunding way to raise the required money and are luring investors with exclusive testing rides and track-days with the pre-development mules and custom designed insignia.
