The week long twelfth Auto Expo has ceased leaving us with a lot to ponder about. The show for the very first time was held at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, a change from Pragati Maidan, the previous venue. It was noticeably bigger in terms of area, had better amenities albeit being a little far for Delhi residents, things were good this time.
The eleventh edition held at Pragati Maidan had higher footfalls at 7 lakh plus in comparison the recently concluded event could only manage 5,61,000 that’s a decrease of 20 per cent overall. However, there were many positives in this edition the show hosted a collective 69 unveiling and launches. There were a total of 90 exhibitors showing 69 vehicles in comparison to only 47 shown in 2012. The event also saw a total of 15 global launches this time. This has also earned the show the reputation of ‘the largest auto show ever hosted in the sub-continent’ as reported by us earlier.
There were many a highlights from the show, the Datsun Redi-Go concept was shown, it has been especially designed for developing nations. Renault showed its global concept car, the KWID, Honda unveiled the XS-17R concept and Ford showed its Figo sedan concept. The other regular road going cars also made an appearance at the show. All in all the show this time despite the low numbers was very well organised and is a big step in the right direction.
