German sports car maker Porsche is celebrating 10 million Facebook fans in style. The brand is running a 1,000km long road trip around England and Wales in a 918 Spyder. At each stage on the hypercar’s journey, Porsche owners and enthusiasts will be invited to sign the car as a memento of its historic trip.
The 918 Spyder will be driven from central London and through Oxford and on to Wales before concluding at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone. Porsche says the route has been chosen to demonstrate both power and efficiency of the brand’s E-Hybrid technology. The 918, in fact, will be joined by a Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the Panamera S E-Hybrid on its journey.
Featuring a bespoke 608bhp 4.5-litre V8 petrol engine paired with two electric motors, the 918 Spyder produces a total output of 887bhp. Thanks to such absurd amount of power, zero to 100kmph is dispatched in 2.5 seconds and top speed is rated at well over 320kmph. Built in a limited series of 918 examples, every unit of the 918 has been sold.
