- Skoda Kamiq GT to debut in China on 4 November
- Based on the Vision GT concept
- Kamiq GT will be specific to the Chinese market
Skoda recently revealed the design sketches of the China-specific Kamiq GT. The coupe-SUV was spied sans camouflage in China this week. The Kamiq GT is strikingly similar to the model released in the teaser images. While the Kamiq GT is a China-only model, we are expected to get the Skoda Kamiq mid-SUV in India.
The Skoda Kamiq GT will make its debut in China on 4 November, while it is expected to go on sale early next year. While the SUV will be specific to the Chinese market initially, Skoda is considering to introduce it in other global markets. The Kamiq GT has been jointly designed and developed by Skoda and SAIC - its partner in China.
Compared to the China-spec Skoda Kamiq, the Kamiq GT features sleek LED headlamps, new machined alloys and a sloping roof. There’s also a chrome beltline that extends towards the C-pillar, while sleeker LED taillights complete the overall look. Interiors are largely similar to the China-spec Kamiq. However, it is likely to get premium leather upholstery for the seats.
Under the hood, the Skoda Kamiq GT will be powered by a 110bhp/145Nm 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol motor, and a 1.2-litre TSI gasoline unit that makes 115bhp and 175Nm. Transmission options include five-speed and six-speed manual gearboxes, while higher variants will also be offered with a seven-speed DSG unit.
