- Will be showcased at the Petersen Automotive Museum
- No details of the new MEB based EV revealed yet
Volkswagen will be showcasing a new ID Concept at a standalone event at Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on 19 November. The ID Concept will kick-off the event which is titled “Building an Electric Future” where the German carmaker aims to provide an inside look at future mobility through the use of interactive and virtual reality experiences.
The exhibit will celebrate Volkswagen’s rich and impactful history both globally and locally, as well as introduce the new MEB platform-based electric concept vehicle. However, no details of the new concept are divulged at the moment. This will be the ninth ID product since the first one was showcased in 2016 at the Paris Motor Show.
After the reveal on 19th, the exhibit will be open to the public on 20th November showcasing the carmaker’s emphasis on becoming the foremost producer of EVs. At the exhibit, there will be five rooms for the visitors. Volkswagen will be showcasing the newly-developed MEB platform and the way it is designed. Other highlights will include the modular nature of the platform and how it can underpin different types of vehicles. Volkswagen also says that some rooms will have “interactive features” which will allow visitors to explore the challenges faced by automakers. The visitors will also experience “what driving will look like in the future”, claims the carmaker.
Klaus Bischoff, executive director of Volkswagen design, speaking on the exhibition, said, “Building an Electric Future gives a behind the scenes look at making the new age of electric and autonomous mobility happen. It shows varying perspectives from the designer's point of view, the manufacturer, and the consumer.” He went on to say there’s no better way to kick off the exhibit than using it as the world premiere of our newest member of the ID family”.
