- New Defender spotted in India for the first time
- The model is expected to be launched in India next year
The new Land Rover Defender has been spotted testing in India for the first time. Images of a camouflaged test-mule spotted in Bengaluru were recently shared on the web. The second generation Defender was at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The size of the test-mule suggests that the 2020 Land Rover Defender is being tested in the 110 wheelbase guise. The model is additionally sold in the 90 and 130 wheelbase format while a Plug-In Hybrid variant will be unveiled next year.
In the 110 wheelbase guise, the Land Rover Defender is available in three seating configurations including a five seater, six seater and 5 + 2 seating. The test-mule seen in the images here features the signature boxy design of the Defender and LED tail lights while the unit seems to be devoid of the tail-gate mounted spare-wheel.
Engine options for the new-gen Land Rover Defender include a four-cylinder petrol unit (P300), six-cylinder petrol unit (P400), four-cylinder diesel units (D200 and D240). The P400 mill also features Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle technology. The new Land Rover Defender is expected to be launched in India next year and will rival the likes of the Mercedes-G350d.
