Bookings for the new generation Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV have opened and it will be launched in India before the 2020 Auto Expo. This is the new generation GLE is the second model to sport the GLE monier after Mercedes-Benz switched to its new nomenclature. It has already been spotted testing in India. The successor to the third-gen GLE, a rebadged ML-Class, was spied during a public road test on the roads of Pune, Maharashtra.
Compared to the outgoing model, the next-gen Mercedes GLE will be an all-new model with fresh styling and a new interior. While the silhouette of the car remains similar, we can see a new front bumper with skid plates, two slat grille with the Mercedes-Benz logo sitting in between and new headlamps which have been covered with a wrap.
Engine options on the new Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class could include BS-VI compliant units of the 3.0-litre, six-cylinder diesel engine, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine and a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine. All these engines will be paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard. Once launched, the model will rival against the likes of the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and the Land Rover Discovery.
Inside, the upcoming generation Mercedes-Benz GLE Class is expected to come equipped with two 12.3-inch touchscreen systems, a larger touchpad on the centre console and multi-function touch panels on the steering wheel.
