- Only 106 units of the Speedtail will be built
- Production of the model to begin next year
McLaren’s successor to the F1, the Speedtail, was unveiled in October last year. The model has now been spotted testing again ahead of its production run that is scheduled to begin next year. Spy images reveal a PP2 or a pre-production prototype of the Ultimate Series range.
The test-mule of the McLaren Speedtail is devoid of any kind of camouflage as it has already been revealed. The prototype model is likely to be in its final phase of testing. The new spy images though, do give us a look at the turn indicators of the model in action.
A few other highlights of the McLaren Speedtail include an all-glass cockpit, front wheels with wheel cover to aid aerodynamics, rear view cameras replacing the conventional ORVMs and a three seat layout. The latter is a format where the driver seat is positioned in the centre of the first row while the two passenger seats are positioned in the second row.
Powering the McLaren Speedtail will be a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired to an electric motor, producing a combined output of 1035bhp and 1149Nm of torque. The model can sprint from 0-300kmph in just 12.8 seconds, all the way up to a top speed of 402kmph. Only 106 units of the Speedtail will be built.
