- Will be revealed on 17th November
- Might not adopt the Mach 1 moniker
Almost a year after Ford disclosed their intentions of reviving the Mach 1 nameplate, a few controversies and a million predictions later, we now know when the Mustang-based electric crossover is officially coming. Teased by Ford Performance, the all-new electric crossover will finally break cover on 17 November.
Even though it’s just a skimpy sketch revealing nothing more than a silhouette, the Mustang inspiration is evident in the long nose, three-bar taillamps and the fastback roofline. The clay model in the teaser video also reveals sharp creases on the body and a very attractive looking headlamp shape.
Ford has remained tight-lipped about the technical details of this new electric crossover. To an extent that we don’t even know what it will be called after the controversial Mach 1 name was dropped. There are no words on what will power the new electric crossover or what platform it will be based upon. Some reports say that Mach E nameplate might be suitable for the first electric crossover from Blue Oval, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.
More details might surface when the reveal date draws near. Ford might also showcase the Mustang-based EV at the 2019 Los Angeles Motor Show before it goes on sale next year. Keep watching this space for more information.
