- Not only is it faster but also easier on the tyres and more stable
- New car comes with better aerodynamics and electronics
- Horsepower remains the same
Hypercars as the name suggests are already pretty hyper and then manufacturers go even further ballistic by making madder race versions of them. Ferrari has just unveiled its latest race-ready version of the 488 called the GT3 Evo.
Now this race spec 488 is faster but the interesting thing is that it’s faster without making any additional power. Ferrari has diverted all the attention towards the aerodynamics, handling, safety and reliability of the 488 GT3. So it’s still powered by the turbocharged V8 with power figures being governed by FIA regulations.
According to Ferrari, the car has undergone more than 18,000 hours of testing in the wind-tunnel and resulted in a new front end and bits and pieces to generate extra downforce. Also the Evo sits on a longer wheelbase in a bid for better stability and less tyre wear. To further aid the driver, ABS and traction control have been reworked to match the changes to the chassis.
The GT3 Evo will go head to head against the likes of similarly hardcore McLaren’s, Merc’s, Lambo’s and Porsche’s.
