Suzuki has unveiled the new C-segment concept at Paris called the S-Cross. This concept will make way for the new production model, which will go on sale in Europe in 2013 to compete with vehicles like the Dacia Duster.
Suzuki says that the new S-Cross will be first vehicle in an ambitious annual programme for Europe starting 2013. The company also confirmed that the new model will not replace the SX4 crossover, but will be positioned above the existing model.
The S-Cross is based on an all-new platform, but promises to maintain the performance and dynamic capabilities of the Swift and SX4 series. The design and colour of the new concept is slightly unconventional and controversial, but we expect it to be streamlined in the production version.
Looking at the way utility segment is growing in India, we won’t be surprised if Maruti Suzuki decided to launch this vehicle here sooner than later. There might be certain alterations to the vehicle for India, including size cut to fit in the small car bracket of sub-four meter. In India we expect the vehicle to be powered by the 1.3-litre multijet diesel to compete with the Ford EcoSport and the Renault Duster.
