Japanese automaker Honda has launched a dual fuel version of the City in Thailand. The car has undergone changes to support the CNG option and these include an electronic safety box and a solid cross bar in the boot for enhanced stability.
As per pictures on Honda Thailand’s website, the car also gets a 65 litre round tank so as not eat up into boot space. Honda has also ensured that the inlet for CNG and petrol are in the same place so as to make fueling up an easier process. Powered by a dual fuel 1.5-litre engine, the car is being manufactured at Honda’s Ayutthaya plant and will meet Euro 4 norms. It is also expected to have a three year warranty.
As CarWale had reported earlier, Honda was considering introducing the CNG City variant in India and it is expected that this is the model that will be launched during the festival season. Honda’s fortunes in India took a rapid nosedive after the deregulation of petrol prices over the last one year and its lack of diesel models in its range. It is expected that the CNG variant will cost Rs 50,000 to 60,000 more than the petrol powered City.
