Toyota has officially announced the launch of its premium brand Lexus in India. "We have been watching India with keen interest and we are happy to announce that we will bring Lexus to India in 2013," confirmed Yukitoshi Funo, Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor Corporation.
The Lexus range and pricing will be disclosed as we get closer to the launch date. As per the initial plan, the cars will come in as a complete body-unit. Lexus being a premium brand, it will have separate dealerships. Funo further added, “Lexus is a different brand from Toyota. Having independent stores is our global policy.”
Today, Lexus is one of the best selling Japanese brand and was introduced in the US in the late 80’s. Lexus will compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi and Jaguar Land Rover. We believe the new generation GS should be one of the cars that will make it to India.
