- AH2 aka the Santro to be launched in festive season
- Hyundai Kona EV to launch in 2019
- New Elantra, Santa Fe expected next year
Hyundai has decided to go on a product offensive for the next two years with the announcement of eight new products over the next two years. The ‘new Santro’ or the AH2 will be launched this festive season and will be Hyundai’s biggest launch for this calendar year. Next year, we will see Hyundai’s first EV for India and it will also be assembled at the Tamilnadu facility.
With the focus on new products, we expect Hyundai to bring in the new-gen Elantra which is being readied for a MY 2019 debut later this year. Also, the recently unveiled Hyundai Santa Fe might also come to India by the end of 2018 and compete with the likes of the Fortuner and the Endeavour with its new design and added equipment.
That still leaves us with four more products to guess. With most of the existing line-up of the Grand i10, Xcent, Elite i20, the Verna and the Hyundai Creta updated in the past year, it leaves only the Tucson and the i20 Active to undergo changes. We have already spotted the production version of the Carlino compact sub-4m SUV. Codenamed as QXI, Hyundai has just confirmed that it is slated for a H1 2019 launch.
With the AH2 coming in, Hyundai is also ramping up its production capacity to 7.5 lakh units per annum with the existing setup. Currently running at almost 100 per cent, Hyundai will extract more from the facility through value engineering and increasing the efficiency of their processes.
