Chevrolet India will launch four new passenger cars in 2011. These four cars include the one small car, two mid-sized cars and one SUV. Last week, the company had inaugurated its flexi-engine plant in Talegaon where it can manufacture petrol and diesel engines on the same assembly line.
The new SUV will be the Chevrolet Orlando, the sedans will be the Chevrolet Sail and probably even the new Optra. Chevrolet has been working on a new small car, which will be the replaced for the Spark, the current smallest car in the Chevrolet portfolio. With the Mahindra-Reva deal, the e-Spark is scrapped, and Chevrolet will just showcase its new electric car, sometime in early 2011.This will be an electric car made purely by General Motors R&D team. The Chevrolet Beat will soon be launched in LPG and diesel variants as well. The Talegaon plant will produce this new diesel engine for the Beat and this car is already in its test cycle.
