Update: Volkswagen Vento Prices Announced - Starts at 6.99L
The Volkswagen Vento, one of the most talked about upcoming sedan, was showcased by Volkswagen on the 6th of July, 2010 in New Delhi. The Volkswagen Vento is the sedan version of the Volkswagen Polo which was launched earlier this year. The Vento will be available in the petrol and diesel variants. Both the variants will boast of a 1.6-litre engine which produces 105bhp. This German sedan will compete with cars like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Fiat Linea.
Fiat with its upcoming T-Jet engine on the Linea, which produces close to 110bhp, will make for a tough competitor in the segment. The Volkswagen Vento will be launched in September 2010 in time for to capture festive season sales. The VW Vento was spotted by one of our readers, and this is first time the car has been spotted on road. These cars were a part of the press fleet, wherein the German car manufacturer, based in Chakan, will be conducting media drives in a couple of weeks time.
The petrol variant of the Vento had an automatic transmission (DSG), and we believe this is a slightly scaled down version from the regular Volkswagen Group DSG boxes. The interiors of the Vento look similar in styling when compared to its hatchback cousin Polo. Immediately noticeable in the Highline trim which was spotted, was the drivers armrest and the brown-beige dual tone interior scheme. The quality of materials used was reported to be excellent as was fit and finish. Vento pricing is expected to start at around 7 lakhs and go up to 9 lakhs.
