The Skoda Octavia has been recalled in India to inspect and fix a faulty child lock. The carmaker has announced that 539 units of the sedan are a part of this recall.
Octavias manufactured between November 2015 and April 2016 are subjected to this recall. The cars under question might have a faulty manual child lock system on the rear doors. The technicians at the dealerships will check for this fault and if there is a need, fix it as well. The company is promising that the assessment of these locks will happen in 12 minutes and the process of replacing the lock will take 45 minutes. Customers won't be charged for this at all.
Skoda dealers are in the process of contacting the concerned Octavia owners to make the necessary checks and replacements. It is a good measure to get this check done as it might cause some safety concerns for owners who might seat their kids in the back seat.
