Honda will be launching its new compact SUV named BR-V on May 5 in India. The Honda BR-V will be the first compact crossover that comes with a seven-seat option. Here are some things you need to know about the upcoming BR-V :
Design
The Honda BR-V comes with decent amount of style upgrades. The front gets a large chrome-slat grille and black projector headlamps. Though the sides resemble the Mobilio, it gets plastic cladding on the wheel arches and has a bigger ground clearance. The rear looks new with long tail lamps and a neat finish. As for dimensions, the BR-V measures 4,455mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,650mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,660mm.
Engine
The Honda BR-V will be offered with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that puts out 117bhp power and 145Nm of torque, while the diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which will generate 99bhp power and 200Nm of torque. The upcoming compact SUV will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission or an optional CVT.
Interiors
The upcoming BR-V will offer premium upholstery and seats. For convenience, it gets automatic climate control and steering mounted control. The Japanese manufacturer also claims of offering a class-leading cabin space with more headroom and knee room for occupants.
Safety
In terms of safety, the upcoming BR-V is expected to offer dual SRS airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Hill Start Assist (HAS).
Price
The new Honda BR-V will compete against the likes of popular sellers like the recently launched Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster. As for the pricing aspect, we anticipate that the BR-V might be priced between Rs 9 – Rs 15 lakh.
