Volkswagen India has just revealed the Ameo compact saloon at an event in New Delhi and this saloon is slated to be launched later this year in July.
VW has also went ahead and announced that it will bring in four new products in the next 15 months. These products include the Ameo, the Passat that will be showcased on the 3rd at the Auto Expo, followed by the Polo GTI and the Tiguan that will be revealed on the 4th at the Expo too. The current generation Passat sells abroad with a 1.6-litre TDI and a 2.0-litre TDI motor that’s tuned to put out between 120bhp to 240bhp in various states of tune.
On the other hand, the Polo GTI will come with the 1.8 TSI engine that’s on both the Skoda Octavia and the Skoda Superb, however, this engine makes 189bhp and 320Nm of torque in the international market. It will be coupled to a seven-speed DSG gearbox that propels this hatch to go from 0-100kmph in 6.7sec.
Also on the line up for launches in India this year will be the Tiguan, which premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015. This VW SUV comes in the international markets with a 2.0-litre TDI motor that makes between 110bhp to 184bhp. Features like an eight-inch touchscreen music player, three-zone automatic AC, seven airbags, 4MOTION AWD and a panoramic sunroof should come as standard on this vehicle.
