Launched in 2015, the DC Avanti is India’s first attempt at making a performance car. It was displayed at the Auto Expo in 2012 and the Avanti has stirred up controversy ever since. Is it a Supercar? Sportscar? Or a kit car with a 250bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine sourced from Renault? Well, it’s now available in a Limited Edition and in a more powerful avatar.
The DC Avanti 310 has the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, but it now packs an additional 60bhp making its total output 310bhp. It will be offered with an optional 6-speed automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. DC has employed stiffer anti-roll bars and the car is lowered by 20mm, to handle the additional power and to make it more dynamically potent. Despite that the Avanti still has a practical ground clearance of 150mm which is ideal for our rough road conditions. The car will also feature a carbon fibre front splitter, spoiler and rear diffuser. It will also get LED headlights and taillights. On the inside, the steering wheel and the seats will be finished in Alcantara leather with the speedometer getting reworked to a modern TFT display.
The Limited Edition DC Avanti 310 will set you back by an additional Rs 9 lakh, making it Rs 44 lakh (Ex-Showroom Delhi). It will be available in three colours - grey with green, white with blue and matte grey with orange. Only 31 individuals will be able to own the Limited Edition Avanti which will make it quite exclusive. We expect to see the car at the Auto Expo in February 2016.
According to rumours, DC is working on a convertible version as well.
