Japanese automaker Datsun has reportedly sold around 310 units of Redigo in Kerala on the first day of Malayalam New Year, Chingam. Taking of note of this record feat, Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said, "Kerala is an important market for us and we are always considering innovative initiatives to engage our customers. We are delighted to be part of our customer's lives on this auspicious occasion of Chingam festivities, and look forward to a prosperous year ahead.”
The unconventionally styled entry-level car from Datsun being offered a lucrative starting price tag of Rs 2.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Kochi) has been a primary reason for its spurt in demand. Under the hood, the Datsun Redigo is powered by a 799cc iSAT (Intelligent Spark Automated Technology) engine which generates 53bhp of power and 72Nm of torque. Mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the vehicle reportedly delivers a fuel efficiency figure of about 25.17kmpl. The hatchback is available in five variants – D, A, T, T(O) and S, and it comes in five interesting colour options - white, silver, grey, ruby and lime.
As for safety features, the basic features like power steering is offered from T variant onwards and the AC is available in all except the base D variant. The top-end S variant gets driver side airbag and daytime running lamps as standard. The T(O) and S variants get 2-DIN audio system, USB and AUX connectivity, CD player and front power windows.
Apart from Datsun’s Redigo, the German automaker Volkswagen has also witnessed a cumulative record delivery of 148 cars across Kerala on first day of Malayalam New Year, Chingam. With the festive season set to begin in the country soon, we can expect to see a further demand in Redigo sales in the country.
