It has been less than three weeks since Hyundai brought the ethereal Santro back in its all-new avatar and the budget hatchback has already got over 30,000 bookings. The Santro starts at Rs 3.9 lakhs ex-showroom in Mumbai for the base petrol manual version and goes all the way up to Rs 5.64 lakhs for the top-spec CNG in Sportz trim.
The Santro also marked the debut of Hyundai’s automated manual transmission and turns out that it has quickly become the hot favourite. As per reports, it is said that over 30 per cent of the bookings are for automatic variants which have again underlined the popularity of the two-pedal setup in the budget segment. Owing to the high petrol prices, the next favourite choice is CNG which accounts for almost 21 per cent of the bookings.Â
Santro competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Tata Tiago in the Indian car market.
