June will see debut of three new cars in the Indian market. The launch plans for a couple of these are confirmed and we are waiting for more details another. Here are more details on each of these cars.
Mercedes-Benz GLC: Mercedes will launch the new GLC in India on June 2. The five-seater luxury SUV will compete with the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 in India and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 60 lakh. The first lot of GLCs will be imported to India as CBU and the local assembly is expected to commence in the next few months. The GLC will be offered with both the petrol and diesel engine options in India and here is the first drive review of the SUV, ahead of the launch.
Datsun Redigo: The Redigo based on the same CMFA platform as the Renault Kwid, will be the new entry-level car for Datsun. Although, the launch date has not been announced, the bulked-up Maruti Alto 800 competitor is expected to be launched in the next few days. Datsun is already accepting bookings for the Redigo and we should expect the pricing to be announced in the next few days. We drove the Redigo last month in Kolkata and here are our first impressions of the car.
Volkswagen Ameo: The production of the new sub-four metre sedan has started at Volkswagen’s Chakan facility recently. The company is accepting bookings for the new car and has also rolled out a nationwide pre-launch campaign. While there is no confirmation from the brand as yet, chances are that the Honda Amaze and Ford Aspire competitor will be launched in India before the end of this month. We haven’t driven the Ameo as yet, but got a taxi ride in one of the pre-production models. Here are our first impressions from the ride.
