- Delivers 2,184 units of Seltos in a day
- Kia has received over 50,000 bookings for the Seltos
- It is available in 18 variants across two body-styles
Kia Motors India has delivered 2,184 units of the Seltos in India on the occasion of Dhanteras. While the Indian automobile industry has been going through a slowdown, the Diwali festivities have brought some kind of reprieve for automakers in the domestic market.
Kia Motors sold 7,754 units of the Seltos in September, while it has received over 50,000 bookings for the mid-SUV since its launch in India. One of the primary reasons for the success of the Kia Seltos in India is the fact that it's available in multiple variants across two body-styles.
The Kia Seltos is available with two petrol engines and a diesel motor, all of which are BS-VI compliant. There's a 114bhp 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol motor that's either mated to a six-speed manual gearbox or a CVT. Then there's also a 140bhp 1.4-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol unit that is available with a seven-speed DCT and a manual gearbox. The sole oil burner is a 114bhp 1.5-litre turbo-diesel powertrain that comes paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a torque converter automatic.
While the South Korean carmaker kicked-off its Indian journey with the Kia Seltos mid-size SUV, it is set to introduce two more products in India in a year's time. The next offering from Kia will be the Grand Carnival premium MPV, which is set for its launch at the Auto Expo 2020. This will be followed by the launch of an all-new compact SUV (Kia QYI) based on the Hyundai Venue in August 2020.
