Aston Martin to get a turbo V12 soon

Aston Martin is working on a new engine to power their future cars. The British marque, known for its naturally aspirated V12s, is turning to forced induction to get the right mix of power and clean emissions. While not all may appreciate the move, everyone will certainly look forward to when they hear about the development partners - Mercedes-AMG.

Almost all Astons in the current line-up are powered by the naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine that has been around since 1999. The engine that started at a not so modest 400bhp output now delivers close to 600bhp for the Aston Martin Vantage GT12. The much loved engine has been the reason behind the distinct exhaust notes of the Aston Martins.

Owing to the limitations of the old architecture and with the emission laws becoming stringent by the day, Aston Martin has built a new power-plant that will not only provide better performance options for the Aston Martin range, but also make sure that all norms are adhered to.

Mercedes-AMG's expertise and experience in building performance V12s is well known. The Mercedes-AMG 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine currently powers the S65 sedan, the G65 wagon and the SL65 roadster. What is more interesting is that it is the same engine that powers the exotic Pagani Huayra, although in a different state of tune.

The 5.2-litre V12 that Aston Martin is developing with Mercedes-AMG, then, will be potent enough to propel the British beauties past 100kmph within a blink. While we await further details on the horsepower, torque and other stats, we are happy to hear the grunty V12 in this video released by Aston Martin.
