Hyundai’s Toyota Prius rivalling Ioniq hybrid car has been spotted sans disguise ahead of its official reveal in South Korea next month. It appears that car has been caught during its commercial shoot somewhere in the US. Hyundai had shown the I-ONIQ as a concept car at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and will be showcased (in this) production version at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
The photos reveal that car will follow in the footsteps of its larger siblings like the Verna, Elantra and the Sonata. All the noticeable Hyundai elements like the grille, swoopy headlights and sloping roofline are present in the Ioniq. The side profile too is in line with the other Hyundai sedans while the rear appears to be a bit sportier and has elements from the Veloster as well the current Scoupe.
This new EV will be offered with three power trains - pure EV, plug-in Hybrid and gasoline hybrid. It will be their entry into the global green car segment which is dominated by vehicles like the Toyota Prius and Chevrolet Volt, Nissan Leaf as well as the Tesla model S.
