Top 5 changes to the new Range Rover Evoque 2016

Land Rover launched the latest iteration of the Range Rover Evoque, today, at an event in Mumbai. Priced in the range of Rs 47.1 lakh to Rs 63.2 lakh (pre-octroi Mumbai), the car gets some phenomenal changes that peg this model to be a better package than its predecessor. Let’s have a look at these alterations and additional features.

1. New exterior design

Though the manufacturer has not brought a major cosmetic makeover to the 2016 Evoque, there are small changes to the design that enhance the look of the car. Up front, the mildly reshaped bumper gets a pair of larger, more aggressive air intakes. The grille is also changed with a new fine mesh design and the car features full-LED adaptive headlamps and slim LED fog lamps while the turn indicators are now completely integrated into the LED running lamps. The tweaks at the back include a new tailgate spoiler that comes with a wider LED third brake light. The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels with a new design pattern.

2. New interior

The cabin gets a different quality leather and the option of a two tone finish. The standard interior colours now include two new options - Lunar Ice and Vintage Tan. This gives a buyer a total of 13 choices. The dashboard is also altered and door casings are mildly updated. The interior features new seats, out of which the front seats are eight-way power-adjustable with the option of having 14-way seats with optional massagers. 

3. New central touchscreen and MID

This iteration of Evoque gets the 8-inch touchscreen display powered by the InControl Touch infotainment system, as standard. The higher variants also feature InControl Touch Plus that can be specced with navigation. The rear occupants get a pair of eight-inch video screens and wireless digital headphones. The multi information display (MID) comes paired to an 11- or 17-speaker Meridian audio system.

4. Gets more tech

-HUD

The interior of the Evoque boasts of an advanced integrated laser Head-Up Display (HUD), which basically displays essential information on a small area on the windscreen. A new laser holographic technique throws this info clearly onto the windshield. This includes data like vehicle speed, cruise-control information, gear position and shift indicator, satellite-navigation instructions and Traffic-Sign Recognition. This data can also be preset by the driver according to his convenience. This feature aims to help the driver concentrate on the road ahead rather than looking down or at the side for the info. 

-Gesture Control

There is a new ‘Gesture Tailgate’, which enables opening the rear gate with a swipe of your foot under the rear bumper. This adds to the convenience of a user when his hands are occupied with luggage.

-InControl app

The Evoque comes with Land Rover’s InControl Apps that is customised for the Indian market. The car comes equipped with six preloaded Indian apps catering to news, selecting a restaurant, Mapmy India, an app to help find parking and two others that will be released over time. A user can download this app on his phone, connect and use it via the car's infotainment system.

- All-Terrain Progress Control

There is also this new All-Terrain Progress Control that allows the driver to maintain a low and fixed speed, essentially while traversing a rough terrain, so that he can just concentrate on choosing the path. The car will move forward or backward anywhere between 1mph and 19mph, saving the driver's efforts from using the accelerator and brake, but focusing more on picking through rough and obstacle-strewn paths. 

5. New 3-year service and warranty plan

The Evoque is fully supported by a comprehensive three year warranty that covers any manufacturing defects, repairs or replacements due to a manufacturing fault. The work will be done free of charge by a Land Rover Approved Service Centre using genuine Land Rover parts. But, what Land Rover has additionally packaged the vehicle with is a three year service plan, all inclusive of the car’s price. All standard vehicle services, apart from wear and tear, will be done by the service centre at no extra charges during the course of using the vehicle for the first three years.
