- To get heavily reworked fascia with subtle rear changes
- Mechanically to remain unchanged for India
Jeep has begun testing the facelifted version of its fifth-gen Grand Cherokee SUV internationally. The model was launched in India in 2022 and is locally assembled here to keep its cost down. The SUV's facelifted version was recently spotted covered in camouflage, concealing the front profile where significant changes are anticipated.
As seen in the spy shots, the 2025 Grand Cherokee will get a heavily reworked front fascia. It will feature revised headlamps, wider seven-slat grille, and tweaked front bumpers with ADAS and parking sensors positioned higher up than before. The alloys too will get a new treatment in terms of design.
The side and rear profile remain more or less identical compared to those of the current Grand Cherokee. However, considering these are some of the early spy pictures of the SUV, the brand will likely change the rear profile as well during the advancement in its testing phase.
Mechanically, Jeep is unlikely to make any changes to the powertrain of the Grand Cherokee, at least in India. Here, the SUV is being offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Quadra-Trac 4x4 system. In this state of tune, the engine produces 268bhp and 400Nm of peak torque.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is not doing great in terms of sales volume in India. It will be interesting to see whether the brand will update the Cherokee with a facelift or not in the coming years.
Notably, the car manufacturer has been offering discounts of up to Rs. 12 lakh on the Grand Cherokee in order to increase sales.
