- Launch in the coming month
- To be brought in as a CBU model
Nissan India has officially released a teaser of the latest-generation X-Trail, also confirming its launch in the Indian market soon. Here's what we can expect from the upcoming premium SUV.
Exterior
Design-wise, the fourth generation of the X-Trail boasts a huge grille featuring the brand's latest V-motion design. Other highlights include a split-headlight setup and taillamps with LED lights. The SUV rides on 18- or 19-inch wheels depending on the variant.
Interior
Inside, the X-Trail's interior sports a large floating touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. Other notable features include a three-zone automatic climate control, Bose surround sound system, ADAS, heads-up display, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.
Powertrain options
The X-Trail is expected to be offered with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine in India. This mill produces 201bhp and 305Nm and will come mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Given the probability of Nissan wanting to offer the best, it would be interesting to see if it considers getting the hybrid version. Besides, whether an AWD version will be offered remains to be seen.
Launch timeline and competition
The Nissan X-Trail was showcased in India alongside the Qashqai and Juke in November 2022 at an event. With the impending launch next month, the X-Trail will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) under the government policy. The latter allows the import of up to 2,500 vehicles per year without the need for homologation. We can expect the X-Trail to be priced above Rs. 30 lakh to Rs. 35 lakh. It will go up against the Skoda Kodiaq (CBU), the Hyundai Tucson (CKD), and the Volkswagen Tiguan (CKD) in the Indian market.
