- Most affordable car to get ADAS
- Top-spec ZX variant gets ADAS
Honda offers several ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) features on the top-of-the-line ZX variants of the newly launched Amaze. The ZX variant with a manual transmission of the compact sedan is priced at Rs. 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom) making it the most affordable passenger car in India to get ADAS. Meanwhile, the ZX CVT automatic variant is priced at Rs. 10.90 lakh. Both boast ADAS and here are the top highlights of the full range of active driver-assist technologies in the 2024 Amaze.
Signature features of 'Honda SENSING'
Besides six airbags and other passive features, the carmaker has equipped the Amaze with a lane watch camera and ‘Honda SENSING’. As a result, the new Amaze offers many ADAS Level 2 features such as a collision mitigation system, adaptive cruise control, lead car departure, lane-keep assist, road departure mitigation system, and auto high beam. These are similar to the Honda City and we'll be testing these features soon in our first drive to explain further how effectively these work.
What's the working principle?
This first-in-segment application of ‘Honda SENSING’ widely called ADAS uses a high-performance front wide-view camera. This has a far-reaching detection system to scan the road ahead. It can recognise road lines and road boundaries like curbs and pavements. Moreover, it can detect objects including pedestrians, preceding motorcycles, bicycles, etc. in both day and night time. The system quickly alerts the driver and even intervenes and automatically brakes to avoid an accident or minimise the severity of a collision.
The rationale behind it
Honda decided to equip the Amaze with ADAS in line with the brand's global vision to achieve zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda vehicles by 2050. As a result, the Amaze comes equipped with more than 28 advanced active and passive safety features and incorporates the manufacturer's global safety standards.
