- Production-spec Basalt revealed
Citroen is preparing to launch the new Basalt in India. Ahead of its official unveiling on 2 August, a new teaser has revealed the interior of the coupe SUV that was under wraps for all this while.
As expected, the cabin resembles that of the C3 Aircross and has a five-seat layout. The host in the teaser speaks about the light beige leatherette fabric with an interesting pattern. The rear bench gets a fixed headrest in the centre but with a three-point seatbelt and a foldable armrest with cup holders. The Basalt will boast equipment that includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and more.
The upcoming Citroen Basalt is expected to compete with the Tata Curvv in the Indian market. The former will be launched in a couple of days, with the latter in the next week. Citroen will power the Basalt with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the C3 Aircross. It churns out 102bhp and 205Nm of torque. Transmission options include either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
