The 2020 Renault Kwid facelift was spied undergoing testing on the outskirts of Pune yesterday. It will be the first significant update for the Kwid, ever since it was introduced in India in May 2015. Interestingly, the design of the facelift model is derived from the Renault City K-ZE electric car, which was showcased at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show in April.
Up front, the fascia has been highlighted by the higher-placed sleek LED daytime running lamps and lower placed headlamps, which is the design philosophy in vogue these days. The car also features a new radiator grille, while a redesigned bumper completes the front look.
On the sides, the Kwid facelift features steel wheels and black ORVMs, which indicates that the test prototype is a lower-spec variant. The spy shots don’t reveal any changes made to the rear profile of the car. However, we can expect the Renault Kwid facelift to receive a redesigned rear bumper and revised taillight internals.
Under the hood, the existing 0.8L and 1.0L three-cylinder petrol engines will be carried over onto the new Renault Kwid. However, both the powertrains will be BS-VI compliant and continue to be offered with a 5-speed manual and AMT options. The new Kwid could be launched in India towards the end of this year or early next year.
