The entire motoring community was quite sad when the legendary Defender was sent to the gallows as a result of evolving safety and emission standards. Land Rover has already spent a couple of years building the all-new Defender and has now officially teased the production-ready car for the first time.
While the mule being teased is still covered in camouflage, we already know how the new Defender will look like. Unlike its perfectly square predecessor, the new Defender gets a few rounded edges, flared wheel arches and modern bits on the outside. As for the cabin, we expect the new Defender to be modern and luxurious like the new breed of Land Rovers.
While it will be offered in both three-door and five-door avatars like the Defender has always been, we suspect the new-gen car will go the Discovery way. We think it might not be as rugged and capable as the older Defenders, but given the modern-tech, it should be able to manage everything except hardcore rock-climbing and stuff, which anyway will be best reserved for purpose-built off-roaders.
Now that Land Rover has officially teased the new Defender, the launch and reveal doesn’t seem too far. Also, the best part is that this Defender will officially come to India soon after and it will be the first Defender ever to come to India.
