• Styling updates include newer bumper and grille, new alloy wheels and standard LED
• Interior gets new materials and updated infotainment system
Honda has revealed the updated 2020 Civic for the European market. The model year update gets a slightly tweaked styling while the interior gets a rejigged infotainment system and newer materials.
In terms of the design update, the MY2020 Civic gets a reworked lower front grille around the fog lamps. Honda is also offering full-LED headlamps for the first time along with redesigned DRLs. Even the honeycomb mesh on the fascia is tweaked while a new exterior colour called the Obsidian Blue has been added. Also part of the update is a new 16-inch alloy wheel in the entry-level model and the sporty ‘Shark Grey’ 17-inch alloys in higher-spec models.
On the inside, the Civic now gets new textured materials along with eight-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat in the top-spec variant. In response to customer demand, the infotainment system is updated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is added usability through means of physical buttons and dials for the infotainment and climate controls. All the driver aids system and safety features are carried over as well.
In terms of powertrain, the updated Civic continues to be powered by the same engine and transmission options. In the international markets, the Civic can be had with a 1.0-litre V-Tec turbo making 124bhp/200Nm. The 1.5-litre VTEC turbo-petrol produces 180bhp/240Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the revised 1.6-litre i-Dtech diesel puts out 118bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices include CVT and six-speed manual.
The new Civic will go on sale in January 2020 in the international markets. Honda might bring in the update for the Indian-spec model as well but we’ll have to wait a little longer for that.
