Bentley will launch the third generation for the Continental GT sometime in 2020 and an early test mule has been spotted doing the rounds in Europe. The pictures reveal that a majority of the car has picked up its design from EXP 10 Speed 6 concept car that was showcased in 2015.
This Continental GT will be underpinned by a new platform that is currently present in the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga and the soon to be launched second generation Porsche Panamera. Our sources suggest that a change in its construction materials will allow this Continental GT in both coupe and cabriolet form to drop a 100kgs from its kerb weight.
We can see that Bentley has retained its iconic face thanks to the large headlamps and grille but the rear end is completely new thanks to the wider body and heavily flared wheel arches. These are all design traits that we saw on the EXP 10 Speed 6 concept.
We believe that it will be offered with the same set of engines and gearboxes as the current car albeit in a higher state of tune. Apart from the current lot there is also expected to be at least on e hybrid and full electric model for the range.
