- The Tiago will get a rejigged variant line-up with the introduction of XZ+ as the new top-spec trim.

After the launch of the Hyundai Santro in the competitive entry-level B-segment, Tata has been compelled to update the Tiago as well. This could also be a model year update for the Tiago which will see an addition of a new top-spec XZ+ variant similar to the Tigor along with new paint schemes and added features on the inside.
Firstly, the Tiago XZ+ will debut new body colours – Canyon Orange and Ocean Blue – while the current Sunburst Orange will be shelved. The XZ+ trim will sport the same five-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels with the dual-tone finish which is seen on the Tigor. However, the 14-inch wheels of the Tiago XZ will be discontinued.
On the exterior, the headlamps will get projector units with a smoked black finish, body side moulding, and chrome insert on the tailgate. The XZ+ will also get a dual-tone shade with a glossy black finish on the roof, therebythereby a sporty touch to the hatchback. In terms of features, the Tiago will now get electric ORVMs, automatic AC, seven-inch touchscreen with Harman music system and mobile connectivity, full fabric seats, and knitted roof. The XZ will now be offered with only two tweeters instead of four, while the XZ+ will get four tweeters.
Under the skin, there won’t be any mechanical changes to the hatchback. This means the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.1-litre diesel will continue to be on offer in the top-spec guise. The transmission would be a five-speed manual but Tata may not offer the AMT in the Tiago XZ+ since that will see a considerable bump in the price tag.
Pricing wise, we expect the Tiago XZ to undergo a price cut owing to the reduction of features. This means that the XZ might get a new price tag of around Rs 5.80 lakhs. Meanwhile, the XZ+ will cost around Rs 50,000 over the XZ (similar to the Tigor). So the Tiago XZ+ is expected to retail at around 6.25 lakhs. More details will be revealed in the coming few days.
