- Maruti could be testing new components or engines
- Company could be working on a new seven seat model
Spy images shared on the web show the 2019 Suzuki Vitara testing in India once again. The Vitara could be here to test a few components or engines. Presently, there is no information to indicate whether Maruti Suzuki plans to launch the model in the country.
A few reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki is said to be developing a bigger seven seater model that could be based on a modified version of the Heartect platform that underpins the Ertiga.
Internationally, the new Suzuki Vitara is available with a 1.0-litre and a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine. This model is also offered with all-wheel-drive (AWD). If launched in India, Maruti could also equip these engines with a mild hybrid system or a full hybrid system (12V and 48V). The in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine cannot be ruled out either. Maruti is likely to use VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) technology in order to increase the power output of this engine to better suit the seven-seat SUV. Details regarding the launch remain scarce at the moment, although we may see the model in the prototype form at the 2020 Auto Expo.
